Bridging the Gap

There was once a time when it was very impossible for humans to communicate with each other. Communication is basically an important tool towards man’s survival. When we are in times of need, we have to communicate to ask for help especially during emergencies. Through man’s inquisitiveness he was able to come up with means of communication. At first, people used crude tools to communicate but through the advent of technology, sophisticated modes of communication have been formulated.

The invention of the telegraph and the telephone made way for the discovery of radio technology. Mahloon Loomis initiated the first successful wireless communication between two sites 14 to 18 kilometers apart. Thus he was named the “First Wireless Telegrapher” in 1868. Many scientists are credited for their innovations in the field of radio communication. Nikola Tesla also made his contribution to the discovery of the radio in 1895. However, he was not successful enough with his study because a fire conflagrated his laboratory thus wasting the results of his experiment. Nevertheless, on the other part of the globe, a lucky man in the person of Gugielmo Marconi was successful with his experiment. He was able to transmit the first message which was the letter “s” through wireless telegraphy.

Tesla wanted to make his patent for his radio transmission development. However, Marconi also filed a patent for it. Many scientists actually fought over for the credit of inventing the radio. But, it was Tesla who was given the official rights for inventing radio signal communication. Marconi’s patent was rebuffed in favor of Tesla’s.
Man’s quest towards an effective mode of communication underwent a lot of tough times just to make it possible for what humanity has necessitated.  Radio technology has been of great benefit for mankind. Many great things happened with the advent of radio communication.
Radio communication has made it possible for the people to witness special events in history. It is also proven to be an effective means of communication during disasters. This is a very efficient means of communication when probing for a rescue especially during a sea disaster. Military troupes have also contrived their own means of radio communication during the World War I. Radio telegraphy is also excellent for overseas operation so during the 1899, the American Army established their own radio communication system. Citizens’ Band radio, commonly known as CB radios had also been used by armies to communicate with each other. This has been also tested as proficient in performing its job.

Through time, CB radio technology has really improved a lot and made communication lines even better. We should be of gratitude to the great minds which have devised radio technology. In the earlier times, it really takes much longer to communicate with our acquaintances.
Usually, we write letters and wait for weeks or even months for the reply. The drawback with it is that our letters could go off beam so we would hear nothing in reply. Nowadays, communicating with someone from afar is just like a walk in the park. The nativity of sophisticated means of communication has bridged the communication gaps between individuals.
